- LB: I just left the following recommendation for Mark Collins, who owns Lamp Restorations out of a tiny, little, solar-powered shed just north of the Big Tool Box on Holly, between Dry Creek and County Line. He's so very kind, and patient, and knows his way around a vintage lamp. You can carry in what looks like a garage-sale steal and get back, once he's done, with a rewired, cleaned and polished, work of art. Here's what I posted: Heirloom Lamp Repair I took my girlfriend's 1930s-era lamp to Mark at LAMP RESTORATIONS and he knew SO MUCH about the lamp the minute he saw it. He listened carefully to everything she said, gave her options for the cord type and color, talked about the different types of lamp sockets and how the shade is a vital variable to choosing WHICH socket, and why. He is overwhelmingly reasonable, and quoted us an amazingly low price to do top-quality artisan work. I cannot recommend him highly enough.

- JS: Another vote for Mark Collins. I had bought an antique photographer's tripod years ago and never got around to converting it to a lamp. I had a picture of one from a store, and he copied it exactly, including creating a brass support brace. If you need a source for lampshades, he has the name of a lady. She isn't cheap, but has hard to find sizes and shapes.
